The ‘aspirin’ face mask

True, this does sound a bit bizarre and I was sceptical this would be even worth trying but try it I did, and I’ve got to say I was pretty impressed with the results.

Aspirin is an anti-inflammatory and contains salicylic acid, which gives your pores a good old clean out, and is also good for sloughing away fine lines and wrinkles too. It’s also very good for acne apparently.

Anyway, what you’ll need is:

  • 5-7 uncoated aspirin pills
  • Water
  • 1teaspoon of honey  (optional)

I put the tablets in a Ziplock plastic bag and bashed the hell out of them with a children’s rolling pin. After tipping the powder into a bowl, mix with a drop of water and honey and when it’s a paste-like in texture, slather it all over your face. I left it for approx 5 minutes and then washed the lot off with warm water.

As I said, I was slightly sceptical I would see any difference but my skin felt much smoother and brighter after suffering months of central heating and the usual ravages of a British winter.

Obviously, for goodness sake don’t do this if you’re allergic to aspirin and it’s best to not use more than 8 pills in one go.

Verdict: worth giving a go
